I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
Isaiah 46:4
I reminded myself of this verse often today as I was in much need of being sustained.
I have been so blessed by the Holy Spirit lately and his ability and his gift of fulfillment. I have found myself lately asking God to be in control of more and more of my life. In the past I think I only really handed over the "big stuff" instead of asking him moment by moment, task by task to guide me and fill me up.
I approached BSF this year wondering how I was going to wrap my mind around Isaiah and actually learn more about Christ. Well, let me tell ya.....there is A LOT to learn about God and who he is in Isaiah. I have learned about his wrath, his love, his hatred of sin, and what he does for those who love him...only to mention a few key points!
My BSF teaching leader is Pam Behaul. She has an amazing ability to teach God's word. A few points from this year:
Sin is turning our backs on God's authority and love, thinking we know best how to live. Before, I never thought about what God thinks when I try to live independently from him. He does not like it!
God's timing and way of dealing with evil is perfect. Because God is holy and perfect, incapable of sin and we are not, we are incapable of fully understanding Him, his timing and what his plan is for evil. He is the only one who sees the big picture.
True comfort comes not from circumstances but from being with the comforter. What a reminder! I can not count on my circumstances for comfort.
So back to today. One thing I truly
