Football Camp

Most summers David helps with the Jason Witten's Score Foundation Football Camp.  This was their 9th camp with around 1500 kids coming from all over!  The parents fill our high school football stadium and the kids consume the field.  I usually help with check-in but this year I had a baby shower so the kids and I just visited Daddy in the morning.

Most of our friends live in various places around the states so we always enjoy spending the weekend with those who come in for camp.  Two of David's friend are moving to Richmond and DC so we are excited to see more of them!

The security is pretty tight so only a blue shirt will get you on the field.

Here are the kids with Jason passing a little football.

Halle and Luke were in awe of all the kids.  They watched Daddy run a few drills.  Luke also managed to cut line and participate in Daddy's station for a quick quarterback toss.

Here you can see the stadium and how packed it was!  Crazy fans!

Trash To Treasure

So, I found this chair on the side of the road in the fall.  It sat in our carport for MONTHS.  I saw its potential.  I needed a chair for my work station in the laundry room.

I am determined to not buy another piece of furniture new again!

A similar chair is at Pottery Barn for $250.
I sanded all the rough spots out of the chair and then primed it with spray paint primer.  I spray painted it with a black satin.

The fabric is actually curtain panels I used in our townhouse.  I still have 2 valances up.....one in the kitchen and one in the laundry room.

David cut a piece of plywood to fit the chair.  I bought foam at Wal-Mart (2 pack was $7.50).  I cut the foam to fit and then my rock star Hubs helped me staple it to the plywood.

Pretty sweet, Uh?  I am super excited.  I think I am most excited about the fact that it cost me around $10.  Primer & Spray paint: $8.  Cushion: $3.50.  Plywood: found it in our carport....FREE!

Super Saturday

We "had" this bush-tree thing in our front yard that was rather hideous.  By looking at it you would assume you would be able to dig it out.  Not happening......required the Jeep to pull it out.  It looks like nothing really, but you can tell from the hole that it was larger than you would think.  It was actually really fun!

We started the day early.  We went to a few yard sales before Levi's nap.  Halle found a plastic horse for $1 and Luke found a remote control car for $.50.  I was on the lookout for some randomness I could play with:)  I have been reading blogs that feature thrifty living.  Right up my alley.

David ran this morning and mowed the yard all before lunch.  He and Stephen are training for the Tough Mudder that is in October.  He has been a very diligent runner lately.......if only I could be as motivated:-/

The yard work is never ending.  I am slowly cleaning things out along the fence.  We have an endless amount of hosta if anyone wants any!  We are hoping to mulch a few beds soon too.  I would probably be 110x more productive if I could stay focused on one task for more than 5 minutes.  I move from one corner of the yard to another the entire time I am outside.  David is always on my case about not finishing what I have started.  Honestly, I hate picking up after myself, cleaning up after a project or putting things back where they go.  I wish I could pay someone to walk behind me all day and clean up after me!  I think I would be so much more productive.....haha, yea right.

Not to mention we always have ongoing projects.  Some we've actually started, others are still in conversation!  We are currently discussing a storage shed and a swing for the kids.  Now we just need time, more time and money.  And........I also have 100 projects going on INSIDE.  Shew, I can't keep up.

Luke was helping me bag stuff in the yard yesterday and asked me why I put "pasta" in the bag(hosta).  He has so many hilarious names for things!

pasta for hosta
fanwich for sandwich
sauce and peppermint for salt and pepper

He calls his preferred dinosaurs by their name: "my brachiosaurus".  Just funny coming from a 3 year old.

Halle is the queen of nicknames.  She only calls a few people by their real name.  These are a few of the nicknames I can think of:

Savannah-Savantah
Caroline-Miss Mattie
Benson-Benny
Steve Wooldridge-Stephen
Drew-Mr Squishy
Pawpaw-turkey poochy head
David-Mr Bossy, Nappy Head
Levi-Gigi Moo, Sugar, Roo, Poo
Emma-Ems, Emma Kate

Crying baby.....yes my 10 MONTH OLD IS STILL WAKING UP AT NIGHT!!!!!

Sweet Giggles

Baby giggles are truly food for the soul......especially if the baby is yours.  Even better when the source is a sibling.  What is it about babies that makes us do the same silly thing over and over just to catch a giggle?  Who knows, but I love it!

Blueberry Pickin'

Talk about amazing blueberries!  Our local blueberry farm opened for picking yesterday.  Yummy!  Levi ate a pint while we were picking.  He would grunt and start flapping his extremities when he wanted another one.

Halle picked and picked until she got to hot and then started heading for shade.....pretty typical for her.  She quickly found her pail after 1st mention of blueberry picking.  Thinking Blueberries For Sal had something to do with her "need" for her pail.

Luke, of course, asked David 100 questions and had 100 things to show him along the way up and back down from blueberry hill.  He slowly filled his green, dirty pail......uhhh about 1/8 of the way full....with lots of green blueberries.  Such a boy!

A gallon was $20!  I think that is an amazing price.  Think about the $3.99 pint sizes at Kroger!  We can't wait to go back!
